In February, the WGC Accenture Match Play tournament was held at the Nicklaus Designed Dove Mountain Resort in Marana, AZ. With its challenging greens and stark desert backdrop the course was well received by players and fans of the game. The Champions Tour, Cap Cana Championship held on the Punta Espada course at Cap Cana, Dominican Republic highlights another Nicklaus Design course that Weitz Golf constructed. Cap Cana is a challenging course with several holes playing along the turquoise waters of the Caribbean. The newest stop on the LPGA tour is the Phoenix LPGA Invitational at the recently renovated Papago Golf Course. This famed municipal course was renovated under the guidance of Billy Fuller and the Arizona Golf Association. The highly anticipated renovation has brought rave reviews from the LPGA and local players of all skill levels. Weitz selected to build Wellington Equestrian Center.Weitz Golf, in association with The Weitz Company, has been selected to build the newest facility at the Wellington Training Center in Wellington, FL. The project includes a 39,000 sf clubhouse, 78,000 sf covered riding arena, two grassed fields and four all weather schooling rings.

The Papago Golf Course was originally designed by William F. Bell, and officially opened in 1962. The City's intent was to restore the original Bell features in the golf course and to upgrade the golf course infrastructure to 21st century specifications. Weitz worked with the project team, which includes the Arizona Golf Association through the design phase of the project, and then as Construction Manager during the construction phase. Billy Fuller served as the Architect on the renovation.

Weitz Golf International Wins Clubhouse of the Year Top HonorsMontverde, Florida, Weitz Golf International is pleased to announce that Bella Collina has been awarded top Clubhouse of the Year honors by Golf Inc Magazine. Bella Collina was honored as the top finisher in the private club category. Designed by renowned clubhouse architects, MAI Design of Denver CO, and built by Weitz Golf for Ginn Development International, this project includes a 63,000 square foot Clubhouse, Spa and a 1,800 square foot Gatehouse. All of the buildings in the project reflect a Tuscan theme with exterior materials including natural stone veneer, heavy timber, aged stucco and barrel tile roofing. Interior finishes make extensive use of wood flooring and ceilings, heavy timber, plaster and stone. “Weitz Golf International has always been recognized as a nationwide leader in clubhouse construction, and this award is a testament to the quality services that we provide” said Greg Carlson, President of Weitz Golf. The 36 Million dollar clubhouse was completed in 18 months, with no construction delays or cost overruns. It is the second clubhouse to be built for Ginn Development, following the 82,400 s.f.
